Overview
The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning has much to offer in driver-assist features and interior luxuries for very wallet-friendly prices. The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV is quite compelling with its hauling capabilities and claims to offer a 400-mile driving range but at a higher price. Let’s break these two down and you can decide.

Power
The 2022 F-150 Lightning offers two options: a standard range that combines 2 electric motors that produce a whopping 426 horsepower and the extended range that can reach up to 563 hp. Torque is estimated at 775 lbs ft. The Lightning has a driving range of 230-300 miles per charge depending on trim level and in case there are no available charging stations while traveling, a removable range extender motor is offered to help you in a tight spot. At home, the Lightning uses a 32 amp charger that can be powered by a traditional 120-volt or 240-volt outlet with the option to upgrade to an 80 amp Charge Station Pro that charges in 8 hours instead of 20. With its bi-directional power, the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning can act as a generator to power the average house for up to 3 days or be a power tool generator on the go.
The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV is equipped with General Motors Ultium battery technology to produce a 200kWh battery pack. It is aided by two electric motors and horsepower ranges from 510-664 hp from the base to the RST. All-wheel drive and a four-wheel steering system are standard but you’ll find more upgrades as you climb the trim levels. For example, the RST adds an adaptive air suspension and optional 24-inch tires while the Trail Boss gets all-terrain tires and a locking differential. The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV can tow between 8,000-10,000 pounds.
Interior/Exterior
The 2022 F-150 Lightning looks athletic thanks to its suave body design and thoughtful lighting placements. The front lights are almost angular paired with the daytime light running through in one long strip and full-length brake lights in the back. The Lightning’s power-operated front trunk or frunk can fit 2 golf bags plus a little extra storage underneath a latch in the floor. It also has a drain for ice and 4 household plugs that make it perfect for tailgating... or would that be “hoodgating?” Another nifty feature is a button that folds the gear-shift into the center console or folds out to reveal a workspace area with a household plug. The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning offers 10 colors:
- Agate Black
- Antimatter Blue
- Carbonized Gray
- Iced Blue
- Rapid Red
- Stone Gray
- Iconic Silver
- Oxford White
- Atlas Blue
- Star White
The passenger space inside the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV is much like the crewcab Silverado pickup along with a large storage bin in the front for some extra cargo. Black and white leather upholstery with red accents line the seats for a more upscale look. We like the look of the fixed glass roof, but there are physical climate control knobs.

Conclusion
Although the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV boasts a spacious cabin and large towing capacity, we think the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning wins this one. With its vast driving range, bi-directional power in case of emergencies and nifty front trunk, it has a lot to offer. The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV doesn’t offer much in the driver-assist department, either, despite a higher MSRP. And its driving range hasn’t actually been confirmed yet.
